Training Band

Frampton Silver Band has a Training Band which welcomes players of all ages from 8 to 88 (and beyond!) with the aim of players progressing to the main band as and when they are ready.

There are two sections within the Training Band which both practise on Tuesday before the main band rehearsal.

Our new learners join the Starter Band where they learn the basics of playing a brass instrument and how to read music. They play a wide range of music suited to their ability including ensemble pieces. Players are taught how to look after their instruments and are encouraged to practise regularly at home to enable them to progress.

When they are ready, our learners move into the Training Band where they continue to develop their playing technique as well as their musical knowledge and understanding.

The Training Band plays increasingly complex arrangements developing their ability to read and play a wider range of music. As their confidence grows, they are encouraged to stay on for all or part of the main band rehearsal afterwards.

If you have ever thought of playing a musical instrument but haven’t known where to begin, or perhaps you played many years ago and would like to dip a toe back in the water, we would be delighted to see you.
