Pearl and Graham Underwood

Life Members Pearl and Graham Underwood Pearl and Graham's association with the band goes right back to when the band was formed in 1977 and is really down to daughter Ann!  A meeting had been arranged in the village to see if anyone might be interested in forming a band as part of the celebrations being planned for the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

Ann (the musical member of the family) was anxious to attend, so 'good old dad' Graham went along as well.  The lesson from this - Never attend inaugural meetings!  Ann was elected as the Band Secretary and Graham found himself in the position of Treasurer!  Mum Pearl joined the committee 2 years later when she was confident of some other 'female representation' to keep her company.

And that was that until 1982 when Ann was leaving the band to get married and move to Germany.  To keep the 'musical connections' alive, Graham felt he should learn to play, so, as builder by trade (and used to hitting things with big hammers!) he bought a book/tape and became the self taught band percussionist.

The rest, as they say, is history.  Graham finally retired his sticks in 2005 and his position as Treasurer (by now held jointly with Pearl) in 2006 - the same year that both were invited to become Life Members.
