Our Jazzy Juniors! Chapter 1
I've had the pleasure (and the pain!!) of teaching our two newest band members; Marcus Cook and Ben Wood.
Ben (my son) and Marcus (his friend) are pupils of Lakefield School. They are 9 & 10 respectively and both keen as mustard (so long as is doesn't involve missing football).
Marcus is learning the cornet and Ben the tenor horn, they started in September 2005.
The boys favourite piece so far has been 'Match of the Day'. Practice was actually forthcoming without nagging, screaming or bribery, in a frenzied race to see who could play it the fastest.
For their young years, both boys already have numerous concerts, and a contest, under their belts.
Solo performances in front of HUGE audiences, have particularly impressed. Why don't they shake and sweat in a state of complete nervous terror - like me!
Watch out Ruth Wills, another couple of years and young Mr Cook will be after your solo cornet position. And as for young Mr Wood, I can already hear him saying "Right mum, I'm better than you; you're demoted!".
Chapter 2
And just as Ben and Marcus are starting to make beautiful music, the latest set of 'blasters' are just coming on board.
A big welcome to Jack Curtis and Oliver Wood.
Oooh, there could be trouble ahead!!!!
