Frampton on Severn Silver Band

Unfortunately and unusually I must start this report on a sad note in reporting the death of stalwart trombone player and long-serving band member Ron Phillips.

Ron had been a member of the band for many years and could always be relied upon to be at every rehearsal and engagement.

Although Ron had not been well for a number of months he remained in contact with us, and was delighted when the band played a special concert for him which concluded with him being awarded Life Membership of Frampton Band.

The band was joined by other county bandsmen to play at Ron's funeral and were honoured to be part of it.  Ron is greatly missed by us all.

On a brighter note we were very pleased to be asked to play at the wedding of Becky Pratt and Daniel Holpin which took place at Roccoco Gardens.  Although a little cold and windy It was an honour to take part on this special day and we wish Becky and Daniel and long and happy future together.

We have been very busy on the playing front with many fetes and concerts being attended.  The Village Hall fund-raising event scheduled as a picnic concert at Top o' the Green, in the beautiful gardens of Jane & David Hey, had to be relocated to Lakefield School Hall due to the threat of rain.  However, this still proved to be a great evening and spirits certainly weren't dampened and everyone appeared to have a wonderful time.  Our 'co-stars' (!!) the Severnside Singers were in fine voice and band and choir joined to produce a rousing end to an enjoyable and profitable concert.

Our Training Band continues to make good progress and we are really pleased to have maintained the initial interest with around 15 youngsters still enthusastic after three months.

Finally, our retired drummer, Graham Underwood, has spent a spell in hospital following a fall but we are pleased to report he is now back home and making good progress.

Looking forward to seeing you hearing us...
